Heroes
Man, what a great show. Seriously, an outstanding show.
Yesterday a coworker told me about this new show on NBC called Heroes, a show about ordinary people from around the world who suddenly find themselves with amazing powers, such as the ability to manipulate space and time, or the power to paint future events on canvas. The thing that makes this show brilliant is that the characters are not the one-dimensional variety that seem to plague so many other shows on television; rather, they’re complex characters with depth and backstory, and the viewer is drawn into empathizing with them. The character who paints the future for example is a heroin junkie, who apparently can only use his powers as an oracle while stoned out of his mind on H, while Hiro (the character who can manipulate space and time) is a Japanese cubicle dweller who likes Star Trek and comic books, and provides a welcome comic relief to the series.
In all I would give Heroes five stars out of five, based on the first five episodes. Heroes airs every Monday evening on NBC.
